I am an Assistant Professor of English at Texas A&M, Corpus Christi, where I teach graduate and undergraduate courses in writing, literacy, writing as it relates to civic engagement, writing with technology and New Media, and writing research methods.. 

My dissertation, "Playing in the Prose: Writing Instruction and Underprepared Student Athletes in Division I-A Universities," examined alternative pedagogies and programs underserved and marginalized university students need in order to be successful.  The specific student group I studied were student-athletes in revenue-producing sports at Division I-A institutions..

Along with sports and the teaching of Basic Writing, my professional interests also include Service Learning and Feminist Pedagogies. I have personal interests in Photography, Music, and Community Organizations. I strive to blend the professional and the personal in my teaching and in my living.
