so very glad you have choices! and this was very interesting to read about. i am at a strange juncture where i don't have a professional identity at all. well, maybe not a juncture ... i think i'm staying in manual labor. :)

I, too, am thrilled to read that you have choices! Best wishes with your decision-making process. (I can't see you going without a Starbucks nearby!)

Congrats on the choices! In this economy, that's pretty amazing. I've heard of several people who have had all their options pull out from them because of the economy.

But I would say that the job search is the first stage of the tenure process more than a grad school stage, but I mainly say that because of the number of people in grad school with me who did not go on the market (spouse had a job that grounded them in a particular place, family responsibilities, or just the realization that they didn't want to go that way after all). And, looking back, I realize that the choices I made on the job search had more to say about earning tenure than about earning a PhD, but that might just say more about my journey.

I'm thrilled and impressed that you'll have choices to make, too. Nice to hear that someone has any sort of success on the job market--academic or otherwise--these days.
